The USA Drama

I announced on Facebook that I’m not taking any more new clients since I’m closing in  on age 80 in April and am now semi-retired. I still will be happy to update charts of clients I’ve served prior to this. However, I will be happy to do samplers as gifts this year. History Repeats

During the depression of the thirties, the USA chart was activated with stressful aspects from Saturn and Pluto. It is repeating now. Saturn and Pluto are both in Capricorn (affecting the cardinal signs: Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn), and Pluto is returning to the place it was when the country was formed. Progressed Venus is about to square progressed Pluto in the last degrees of Aries and Capricorn—in about two months—while Transiting Uranus is going back and forth over the last degree of Aries, as well. Even the solar arc Moon is in the last two degrees of Libra. All of this is very dramatic and shows the ending of an era.

As if that were not enough, Saturn is opposing the Cancer stellium in this chart, and the progressed Moon is doing so, as well. However, I think the aspects of transiting Neptune really tell the story. It is now at 13:42 Pisces and has been squaring the USA Sibley ascendant. The progressed Sun is involved at 14:10 Pisces. The Sun rules the ninth house in this chart, and so, with Neptune involved, and also natally IN the ninth, the legislature is either confused or corrupt or maybe some of both. Furthermore, the progressed Sun will quincunx natal Saturn in about 7 to 8 months. That can signal a “separation” of a leader from the government.

Keep in mind that the USA was “born” with Saturn square the Sun, and so, when it (Saturn) transits the degrees in hard aspect to the natal Sun, we can expect manifestation of what that represents. Since Saturn rules the second (the country’s income) and Sun rules the ninth and is in the 8^th, that square shows lessons to be learned the hard way about laws involving income (2^nd house) and taxes/debt (8^th house). We have a fiscally irresponsible president who is running the country into a depression. In about 9 months, when the progressed Moon joins these indicators, it should be obvious.

There is ongoing speculation about the “correct” chart for the USA. I believe we’ll have a good test of that in about three to six years when the opposition of Pluto/Mercury aligns with this chart’s MC. Around that time solar arc Saturn will conjoin Mars and square Neptune. That one should bring discipline (or a hard lesson) to the corrupt government.

Probably the most enlightening thing I ever learned was about Hugh Everett’s “many worlds” theory. It was dramatized in the movie, “What the Bleep?” and was also illustrated in the book, “One,” by Richard Bach. The theory is that when we are confronted with choices, we have “free will” to choose into which direction our lives will shift. For instance, it is not a “given” that you will inevitably choose to kill someone, marry someone, etc. Options for the future shift the minute you make a choice. This is why it is impossible to “predict” from your chart exactly what you will do or what will happen (since other people can do surprising things that are not in YOUR chart), although the chart does show your “line of least resistance.”

An example is when you are confronted with the need to make a decision. For instance, you might have a choice of whether to buy an expensive item on credit or to wait until you have the cash. If your chart shows a tendency to live beyond your means, you may need a “lesson” about that, and events could have been pre-planned before you were born (by yourself) to deliver it. BUT, if you know ahead what the lesson is about, you can make different choices and build in different habits—and, therefore, different results.

Most people live largely unconscious lives and so the predictive methods Astrologers use are usually accurate. However, there are times when people surprisingly choose to “break free” from habitual patterns and do some wiser and more heroic things. I have no way of knowing when or if that will happen…although there might be clues pointing to it. My job is not to predict the future, but to help people make better decisions by outlining the “line of least resistance” that is probable in the future. If someone doesn’t like it, then it is a clue to make better decisions.

It’s really difficult because I cannot make decisions FOR people. I can only relay what is there in the chart and hope that people will do something to change habits so that they have outcomes that they want and/or that are more productive. That is the main reason I don’t like to forecast for more than a year at a time. One time someone wanted his whole life forecast!!  I couldn’t get this concept across at the time, but I didn’t do it, either. There are exceptions….i.e. children’s charts can be forecast rather accurately for the first couple of decades because they are not independent enough to make their own decisions. By the first Saturn return (roughly age 28) a person is much more autonomous.

One more thing….a birth chart is just a frozen moment in time. It can be the chart of a country, a dog, an event (like a party), or really, anything at all that has a beginning. That is why, it is necessary to TELL your astrologer something basic…like whether it’s the chart of a person or not, and if so, at least the entity’s gender! You do not go to your doctor and say, “Tell me what hurts.” You at least tell him (or her) your symptoms!

Upcoming elections

Every time I’ve chosen a topic for a blog, there is breaking news that seems more relevant, and as a result, I’ve written nothing for a long time.  That is the whole reason; I have not been ill nor incapacitated at all.

Now, we are approaching the mid-term elections, and that overrides everything.  I just saw today that Fox “news” is watched by more people than MSNBC and CBS combined. That is unfortunate.  [It’s licensed under ‘entertainment’ ---- lacking a legitimate ‘news’ license (unless that has changed without my knowing it)]

When I was getting an education, I took a couple of years of journalism…in the late fifties. We were taught not to put an opinion in any straight news story; it was called “editorializing. “ (which, btw, is what a blog is--an editorial) For instance, we could not write that a crowd was ‘large;” we had to estimate a number, because “large” was an opinion. Ethics like that have largely disappeared…especially on Fox…not as much on other newscasts.  The PBS newscasts seem to be the best at reporting straight news.

Donald Trump’s Chart

In case any of you didn’t save it, Donald Trump was born on June 14, 1946 at 10:54 a.m. (birth certificate source) in Jamaica, NY. The most important thing I notice right now is that his progressed Moon is approaching a conjunction with his progressed Sun. (This only happens around every 28 years…and the first time depends on where the Sun and Moon were when a person was born; so it is not going to necessarily be at age 28.) This is a major conjunction and denotes the end of a cycle and the beginning of a new one. The phase he’s in right now is called “balsamic” and is supposed to be a time of reflection and review of the preceding 28 years.  The next phase, the “new,” will begin for him in a little less than a year from now. Now, it IS possible that some twists and turns can happen before that, but from HIS perspective, that is a new beginning.

One of the most important “events” in solar arc directions is when an aspect in the natal chart moves to coincide with another natal aspect. Those are life-changing. He was born with Venus conjunct Saturn in Cancer and also Neptune square Mercury (the source of his unfamiliarity with the ‘truth’ and vivid imagination).  Venus/Saturn is about to coincide with Neptune square Mercury. It will first be Venus conjunct Neptune about 10-11 months from now. For him, it will manifest initially as delusional thinking, which has been the case all his life, but Venus rules his third house (Koch houses), so it is especially so at that time. Saturn will follow about a year and 11 months later, and that is when one cannot lie to himself any longer. I call that “reality hitting the fan.” However, the fallout from all this will take about two years to complete (when Venus/Saturn squares his natal Mercury) Incidentally, his solar arc Moon entered Pisces a little over five months ago, and indicates that he really does see himself as a “victim.” 

That is not unfamiliar to him. With Venus conjunct Saturn in his natal chart, he has felt unloved since he was nearly two years old.  Something happened when the Venus/Saturn conjunction "closed" by solar arc that left him feeling bereft. But, with Mars and Leo rising, his response would be pride and bravado. And with Mercury square Neptune, he was capable of "altering reality" to fit his self image. There is more, of course, but that is what is at the forefront now.

Roseanne Barr

I was delighted to discover that we have a good time of birth for Roseanne Barr. She was born on Nov. 3 1952 at 1:21 pm in Salt Lake City, Utah. With such a ruckus about her tweets, you’d expect to see some strong Mars and Mercury activity, and there is.

First, she was born with Mars opposing Uranus. Mars rules her third house (speech) and Uranus rules the chart since she has Aquarius rising. That, in a nutshell, denotes a person who will not follow the rules if she doesn’t want to. The progressed Sun was right on the Mars about a year and four months ago, and is now approaching an opposition to Uranus in about a year and eight months. She would be impatient and angry much of the whole time that was being triggered. PLUS, Progressed Moon was only seven minutes from squaring progressed Sun when she did this. That means that the progressed Moon is only minutes from entering the third quarter progressed lunar/solar phase. These 8 phases each last about 3 and 1/2 years on average and denote a period of time when various traits take center stage. This one (third quarter) is noted for organized and well-considered rebellion, unlike the first quarter, which is unruly and more raw.

The above opposition of Mars/Uranus does not stand alone. They form a T square with a conjunction of Saturn and Neptune. That must feel very frustrating for her. And that conjunction is being activated by the progressed Moon. Since the P Moon will conjoin Saturn in roughly three months, it doesn’t look like she’ll bounce back quickly. That conjunction classically denotes depression. Right now, though, it is squaring the Mars/Uranus opposition, so she is really annoyed and expression of that will come first.

Meanwhile, solar arc Moon is squaring natal Sun and progressed Jupiter. She was born with Jupiter opposing the Sun, so mainly, this is the SA Moon triggering that opposition. It denotes supreme self-confidence and an over-the-top enjoyment of the spotlight (since Sun rules the seventh).

And there is more. Transiting Mars (it has been pointed out numerous times) was almost conjoining her ascendant, but more importantly, her progressed/solar arc MC (profession, public image) is also about to conjoin the Ascendant, and Mars was closer to that. And transiting nodes were also aligned with it. One could predict that there would be an angry occurrence affecting her career.

One little interesting thing is that secondary progressed Venus was exactly to-the-minute square natal Mercury. Usually, that would not be of major concern, but given all the rest, it indicates that what she ‘says’ (Mercury) now is in conflict (square) with her values (Venus).

                                           

I also looked at her tertiary progressions, and it is just a reiteration of all this. Tertiary Mars is square progressed Pluto…rage, and it also is quincunx natal Neptune, which rules her second house. Again, there is a disconnect between her values (second house) and what she is actually saying (Mars rules the third—speech). Is she hiding how she really feels but saying what she feels she must? We cannot judge. I am unable to post the chart here, but will make it an attachment to your email notice.

three charts

Last month someone asked for commentary on Billy Graham…so just a few observations:  He was born Nov 7, 1918 at 3:30 pm in Charlotte,NC….the chart:  

 

The ruler of the chart is Mars, not only in Sagittarius, but also in the 9^th house conjunct the moon in the same sign. Sagittarius relates to religion, law, rules and regulations.  He was a Scorpio, a sign well-known for being controlling.  Plus, its ruler, Pluto is angular as well, giving it considerable strength. He was largely responsible for the words, “In God we trust” added to our money and “under God” added to the pledge of allegiance. That is control!!  The south node in Gemini in the third shows he came from past lives in which he was self-referencing in knowledge…i.e. trusting his own ideas over others. The lesson in this life was about listening to others…north node in the ninth. And ego came into the picture, as well….Saturn in Leo in the fifth.

Further, Mercury squared both Uranus and Saturn. That’s a bit of an oxymoron. Uranus stressfully aspected to Mercury can be a “know-it-all,” but the square to Saturn brings in self-doubt, too. He really had to be in control of all aspects of his life…Pluto opposing Moon, both square the ascendant.

What I find interesting is the status of Neptune, the planet ruling spirituality. It is square Venus and the Sun---some self-doubt, but often manifesting as feeling like a ‘victim.’ It trines the ascendant, however, so it would not have manifested and does show great spiritual sincerity.

The United States

The most important thing I see is that in a little over a month, the solar arc Moon in the Sibley chart will square natal Pluto in the second house. The Moon rules the 8^th, which is the house of “other people’s money” or rather, taxes, debts, insurance ---things like that. Pluto is natally in the second house, personal income –in this case, the country’s revenue. Pluto squares are the most difficult because they require a total re-birthing process.  This is the kind of thing you see with bankruptcy. I would not be surprised to see a financial meltdown, but since Pluto rules the 12^th , it could be kept under wraps for awhile before we realize what has happened.

We had a giant shift a year and four months ago (Trump’s takeover) when the MC by progression and solar arc changed signs.  That just means a different energy is running the country. There is much more, but it would take a long article to relay it all.

Donald Trump

Trump is ending a cycle. I think I mentioned before that he is about to end the large progressed Moon to progressed Sun cycle…always a new beginning. That will happen in about 16 to 17 months. In about a year, when the progressed Moon conjoins his Mars, he will be livid with rage. But, right now, his solar arc Moon is about to change signs….just one minute  to go, which equates to just a few days, and when it does, it goes into Pisces, usually a time when a person feels “victimized”…not always, but often. In less than a year and a half, his solar arc Venus will conjoin natal Neptune…dissolving of his prestige (career) and public image. But, right now, with progressed Venus conjoining natal Jupiter, he’s lucky. It will not last.
